Cartridges
(more globally all heating elements), have to be stored in a dry place because humidity is the 1st cause of troubleshooting when installing. To ensure a long life for your cartridges, they must be heated to 250F or 121C for 30 min before installing them to remove humidity.
2
Do not exceed the WATT density of maximal recommended power :
• Low density : 45 watts and less per 2"
• Medium density : 40 to 65 watts and less per 2"
• High density : 65 to 160 watts and less per 2"
It is recommended to lower the wattage of your cartridges by 20% for applications requiring a certain amount of motion.
3
Ensure that the hole in which you insert the cartridge is cleaned and has the right diameter.
Exemple : a 5/8" cartridge has a tolerance of 0,01 to -0,05 mm on the diameter, given that it expands when heated.
4
Contamination lowers the lifetime of a cartridge. Cartridges can be sealed at one or both extremities if required for environmental purposes.
5
Choose Teflon wires instead of fiberglass wires if the operating temperature is
below 500F or 260C.
The teflon wires have a longer life and protects against humidity.
