Volton Manufacturing has throughout the years, acquired the expertise to manufacture thermocouples and RTDs according to your specifications.
- A thermocouple consists of two dissimilar metal wires fused together at the point where the temperature is to be measured. The thermocouple produces a millivolt signal which increases as the temperature rises.
- Type J Thermocouples are made with iron (+) and constantan (-) conductors. The polarity of the leads are colour-coded as (+) white and (-) red on the insulation
- Type K Thermocouples are made with chromel (+) and alumel (-) conductors. The polarity of the leads are colour-coded as (+) yellow and (-) red on the insulation
- There are many other types of thermocouples: T, E, S, RTD, PT100. For most Plastics & Rubber Industries, Type J is commonly used.
Leads are either in PVC -40°C to 105°C (-40°F to 220°F), Teflon -267°C to 260°C (-450°F to 500°F) or fibreglass -73°C to 482°C (-100°F to 900°F). Also available with stainless steel braid or flex-armour over leads.
We keep in stock a variety of Type J Thermocouples with different lead lengths. We also carry bayonet adaptors, mini & standard plugs & jacks.
